Queens flight DH Heron



Used by Queens Flight as they could(allegedly) fly on one engine & glide,cheers,JD.

Re- Herons and gliding, I have a vague memory of hearing about one which ran out of fuel and completed a dead stick landing somewhere in Devon, possibly during the eighties.

Great pics John.

I think the 'DC6' may be a Canadair 4 Argonaut judging from the Merlin engines and the fin shape.

Definately a golden age of airliner travel IMHO!

VR-AAS formerly BOAC G-ALHX "Astraeus"

The DC3 is
VR-AAI formerly Royal Air Force Skytrain KN279 registered G-ANAD postwar. Acquired from Transair in March 1954. On the dissolution of Aden Airways it was sold to Air Djibouti and re-registered F-OCKX.

F-OCKX appeared in A Bridge Too Far as N9986Q

Sorry,old habits - later developed & stretched into DC6 & we just called them all DC6s,cheers,JD.
