Morning all,

Following on from the defunct magazines thread, who here has had their car, van, bicycle etc featured in a classic mag?

You have nicked my future thread. Sad

I only thought last night after my last post, this would be a good topic.

I had the photographer over last week from Classic Van and Pickup photographing my Austin Van for an article they are running.

Not exactly featured, though my Firenza has appeared in a few show reports in Classic and Sportscar, Classic Car Mart. There's also a photo of it on the way in to Cholmondeley Castle that's been used with several articles, the last one being Classic Car Weekly earlier this year. There's a picture of the Sportshatch (the "before" shot) in a copy of Practical Classics (cheers for the copy, Rick).

My '54 RME once featured in Classics as a Reader's Car. I think I earned enough for a tank of fuel out of it. I took the pics in my back garden, typed a few words and emailed it in, it took me all of half an hour.

My Moto Guzzi T3 was one of the press bikes in 1975/76. The guy I bought it from gave me photocopies of the original roadtests featuring it. I have tried in vain so far to get copies of the originals.

Yes I have tried. I have checked with the sellers of most of those magazines to see if you can make out the reg number, no luck. The photocopies I have are from Motor Cycle Weekly and Motorcycle Magazine. There are some Motorcycle Weeklys for sale on ebay as a job lot but are £25 !

Silver cross prams used gracie for their catalogue when she was dark blue, practical classsics did a feature on estates so we had about 4 pages and the pictures from tht shoot turn up in several other mags. The car and caravan have been in the caravan club mag classics weekly. Our old sceptre and caravan were used for a calendar Very Happy

Yes he is proud of his girls

My green mini has been featured twice, once on a local club published magazine and then on the british made Mini Magazine, both an entire feature on the car with photo sessions and the like!!
Both were a nice experience though what gets written is not always exactly what you had said!

Early 90s I bought a silver Hillman Imp which had appeared before in an front page article against the mini.
That car is in Norway now I believe, I still have the magazine (Popular Classics ?) somewhere.

I remember in 1985 I think it was the Motoring 100 event at Silverstone.

My van I had restored at the time was voted along with stiff competition from all over the UK Best Van at the event.

The local newspaper in our town picked up the story from a friend of ours who worked there.

A photographer arrived at our house after work one evening ,interviewed us and took photo`s.
The write up was nothing like I told him... Sad

A few day`s later the East Anglia BBC news team contacted me about doing a short film of my vehicle.

After the filming we looked out for it at 6.30 every evening on the regional news programme, then after giving up hope the film appeared when we out the house....no video in those day`s.

I did contact them afterwards for a copy of the film but never heard anything.

.

My claim to short fame.
