Went along yesterday in the tourer. The great weather helped. Some interesting machinery parked up alongside the lake for a couple of hours, then most of the attendees headed off to the second stop at Sleap Airfield, where in addition to trainee pilots doing circuits and bumps, there's an interesting museum of "dig" finds from fields in the area.

Highlights in action included a DH Chipmunk in RAF colours, and a Pitts Special. Watching all the aviation action while supping a brew on the veranda outside the control tower was a very civilised way of spending the afternoon before setting off home again.

There's a vintage fly-in combined with military vehicle show next weekend, so we're of a mind to make a return trip.

The second Dearnford Lake classic car gathering of 2014 took place yesterday. The weather was good, lucky considering that both Saturday and today (Monday) started with rain.
