Hi all,

Have just taken ownership of a 1935 morris 8 that has resided in a shed since 1970 from the family that have owned it from new.

It has a full history with many photographs and interesting stories.

Although complete, the chassis looks to be fairly rotten on one side. I have experience of restoring cars I have a p6 rover, 66 beetle etc but will need any help and advise going!!!

Thanks in advance

Richard.

Thanks Dave,

Just had a noisy looks fantastic.

Just downloading an application form. What I think I will need first is as much info on the chassis as poss, does anyone know if you can get hold of repair sections or is it a case of fabricating from scratch?

Hi
I don't know exactly which one it is, but one of the threads on this board has a large number of photos of M 8 chassis while being restored.

Was the shed built around the car then? I can't see any sign of large doors, unless they fell off when you tried to open them Laughing

the end of the shed unbolted, it went in when the modern car (1958 morris minor) arrived in 1970, that is in the garage at the top of the garden! The history is amazing, in a lot of respects it is too far gone but it HAS to be saved. I have promised the previous owner who is in his 80's (original owners son) that I will get her back on the road.

Gidday Richard and welcome to the Forum Cool

Looks like a little beauty!

If you are really lucky you may find a chassis somewhere on the planet (FleaBay etc) to use as donor sections. I have few photos I can share if required as I have taken mine back to ground zero for a wheels up restoration.

As Rick mentioned there are quite a lot of Morris 8's on the forum and a wealth of knowledge is shared.

I wish you good luck with the resto and am looking forward to seeing your progress.

BTW can you share the story where the car is lurking in the cargo hold of that airplane......?

Cheers

Thanks Rosco,

I have a feeling that those photos will come in Handy!

The car used to make several fully documented trips around Europe in the 50's and 60's, and would often be loaded on to Bristol superfreightors to be transported to le touquet to begin up to 2000 mile trips, I have photos of it in front of the swiss alps, in the south of France etc etc. generally all camping trips loaded with relevant clutter.

I am looking at a load of spares next week to pick up what I can while I can, are there any decent suppliers??
