Hi all,

In keeping with similar threads running elsewhere on the forum, it's high time we have a thread for random images of interesting old aircraft.

To get the ball rolling, a rare photo from recent times (well, 1996) of all three V-bombers in an outside, airfield, setting.

Indeed, I saw a clip of the JP's Southport display, it did look a little on the low side.

Junior and I spent the afternoon down at Sleap airfield, and amongst other things spotted a Chipmunk on gliding towing duties, two Bucker bi-planes, a Pitts Special, and an Anson doing ground runs up and down the second runway. All very pleasant!

Snapped in Stavanger today- Antonov 74-TK 100 UR-CKC. Usually used for oilfield cargo up to the north of Norway!

Not the best quality I'm afraid but they were taken a long while ago; more to follow from that era.

Hi
What was the purpose of the "Bomb Aimers Window"?
Did a crew member use it to sight on the drop zone and then activate the GO light?

Certainly not the best photo of an aircraft. This is a De Havilland Dragon. Either a DH 86 or DH 89.
The lady in the centre is my maternal great grandmother,
with two of her 10 daughters and grandson Ken, now aged 89.

The photo was taken on St Aubins beach, Jersey C.I. C: 1935.
The beach was used from 1933 until a grass strip was constructed in 1937.

Here is the fleet of 8 aircraft in 1936.

I don't know what aircraft this is, again it is on the St Aubins beach. There is a date on the back of the photo (1932).
The gentleman on the right is my late father.

Hi
I think that is a Rapide. in the shot with the ladies.

Twin engined not four,.

DH84 Dragon
http://1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions/McKillop/5376.htm

DH 86 Dragon
http://1000aircraftphotos.com/APS/2680.htm

DH89 Dragon Rapide
http://1000aircraftphotos.com/Contributions/DentonNeville/6463.htm

The bottom photo is odd as the prop looks to be neither at the bottom of the engine or the top.
DH tended to have upright engines as in the earlier Moth series of names, they then went inverted as in the Tiger Moth and those Dragon series.
It is obviously not a horizontal opposed engine.

What lovely shots, we have been to Jersey a few times and to St Aubins, we are taking the kids there next month as it happens. I can just imagine scenes like this.
