I was really shocked at myself a few weeks ago.

We had a guest staying for a few nights and one evening she had forgotten to switch her electric blanket on.

I gamely offered to fill a hot water bottle for her, switched the kettle on, let the water reach hot but not boiling, poured it into the hot water bottle and then realised that I was trying to put a tea bag in................ Shocked

Oh dear - true story and I've been dwelling on it ever since.

There's no way I'm going to tell you how I got breakfast one day and poured the orange juice on top of the tea and the milk into the juice glasses... Laughing

My personal favourite is when I had a call while cooking dinner. Instead of putting cooking oil in the pan I cooked the steaks in washing up liquid. They had a very clean taste though!

I am lucky to still be here considering what I did. A couple of months ago I attempted to remove the "U" bolts holding the springs to the back axle on my Dodge. I got as far as removing the nuts before realising I had forgotten to support the body on stands. ! Shocked

Someone must have been looking down on me or it's just not my time to go yet.

My mother used to put sugar on our salads when I was a kid. But she meant too.... It was ok as I recall.

Rather more car related a few years ago I caught myself putting petrol in my diesel Land Rover. I had only just started pumping and realised quickly. So only a few litres had been pumped in. It was less that 10% of the tank volume so I ignored it. I used to regularly add 10% petrol deliberately to my diesel when I worked in Moscow. Otherwise the fuel waxed up solid. No harm was ever done.

I doubt I would have got away with my mistake with a modern!
