Hi all,

A couple of neat photos that don't really fit onto the main site, but are well worth a look:

4491: Commonwealth of Australia

4492: Dominion of New Zealand

Thanks to Brian for the photos, can anyone shed more light on these locos?

RJ

They are both LNER A4 Class designed by Sir Nigel Gresley (the same model as the famous record-breaking Mallard); both entered service in 1937,and were withdrawn in late 1963/early 1964. Neither have survived. The colour scheme and embossed numbers indicate the photos date from the 1937-1940 period.

Hi
I suspect that the second pic is somewhere in the vicinity of Edinburgh Waverley

Some good photos here and the "Bittern" masquerading as "Dominion of New Zealand"
