wanted one for over 50 year's, never got round to buying one till now, it need's a bit of fetteling, ie setting the brake's up, and the engine setting's looking at, everything really need's checking, not owning a 60 year old car before, i'll have quite a few question's,
here's a few pic's,

Nice, unusual colour, but being different is all good.

i've seen a few pop's this colour, as far as i know it's a standard ford colour from the 1950's, but i'm no expert, so it might be a honda colour, Shocked

no problem paul,
i wasn't too bothered about what colour car i bought, it was mainly the condition of the bodywork i was most interested in, just so happened this looked like the best one, which i'm glad about now as i like the colour, stand's out a bit,

right, first question,
the car has 12 volt bulb's and a 12 volt battery, ammeter showing a positive charge with engine running, but the dynamo look's like the original 6 volt item, any way i can tell if it's a 12 volt dynamo, just by looking at it, ie diameter, length, etc,

I doubt it very much - the tyres may be the same at 16", but the wheels I very much doubt they have the same stud pattern. I think the Pop pattern did appear on a small number of other contemporary cars, Vauxhalls for instance had very similar stud patterns.

rick,

pop has 17" wheel's,

i'd like to change the wheel's, so i can use radial tyre's, not bothered if they are 17", 16", etc,

anyone know the PCD of standard pop wheel's, i cant take one of mine off to measure it at the moment, i've a knackered shoulder that will take a while to heal,

Fitting wider radial ply tyres to the pop may make the steering very heavy, especially at low speeds.

Ah yes it was the Prefect that ran on 16s, as did the E83W pickup (although in the 10cwt pickup's case they were a wider section rim). I know someone who has an E83W pickup (my old one), he has taxi tyres on it, they're quite large and look a bit odd, I imagine the steering is heavy as a result too.

I don't think you'll easily find other wheels to fit the standard Pop hub to be honest, if you prise off one of the hubcaps you'll see how spaced out the stud centres are, greatly reducing the chances of finding alternative wheels.

if it's not giving you any trouble then it's probably a 12v unit, possibly an alternator in a dynamo case. One way to know would be to look in the regulator box and see if it's wired differently if it has a regulator. Do a search on the net for wiring an alternator in place of a dynamo.
