|
|
About two and a half years ago my s1 8 was running, since then she's been garaged. Back then she was a two spin hand start from cold and now in trying to get her running again she will sometimes fire up roughly for a few seconds-1min and then die. All the plugs spark but I'm not sure they spark that well (don't know much about plugs) I have petrol flowing ok and no blocks in the air supply. Any ideas what I should do? My only thought was try tow it around the block a few times to get the oil moving? Other than that I'm at a loss to know what the problem could be |

Possibly the fuel already in the carb bowl is getting used up, and not being replaced?
Perhaps the needle valve on the carb is sticking? {Gummed up?] |

Thanks guys i know the needle is going up and down ok but will check petrol supply into the float chamber/carb.
In thinking about it there's got to be enough spark because at least half the cylinders are backfiring at me so I may have a timing problem also |

May have found the problem, just don't know what to do about it.
If I'm correct when you flood the float chamber and lift the piston inside the carb petrol should jet out the air-intake....not just flood the float chamber so much that it pisses out the nut at the top!!???? What part do I need to take apart and clean? |

Yay now she's going, after cleaning out the carb I still had to do the pull start option.
Now to see what's wrong with the side and tail lights - fingers crossed its just the fuse |

Matt, if fuse replacement isn't the cure take a look inside the circular connection box on the bulkhead, just beside the battery tray. I once had problems similar to yours and checking/tightening of all the brass screws sorted things out.
