Hi all, this is my latest addition to my fleet of cars, most are either waiting in the wings for restoration or being slowly sorted out.
With this ford Model Y I do intend to get her on the road in an almost as is form, been stored for 51 years but the only work that really needs doing is the running board supports and the front and back wing to running board joints.
Seats and interior are quite serviceable.
The paintwork is still quite shiny and a buff up and an oily rag treatment is my first port of call and then assess it from there, of course all mechanicals and MOT standard will be reached, we have to be safe.

All I need to do is get her home, it seems a devil of a job finding a reliable service without paying a fortune, the guy I have found can't do it till a week Sunday, I suppose I'll just have to wait till then........... _________________ Paul

No they are a little to big like about twice the diameter the original lamps are present, attached and ok I think, more info and photos when I get her home. _________________ Paul

The jobs I have found that need doing so far are:-
Replace all wooden floor sections.
King pins need replacing.
New fuel pipe front flexible pipe.
New top and bottom hoses.
New wiring loom (for safety and peace of mind).
Bonnet central hinge securing fitting.
Sliding roof leaking.
Tyres need replacing.
Brakes need checking out.
That's about it for now, I am sure there will be more as time progresses.
The wood wormy floor.

Absolutely is how I found her, I would have left the wiring loom alone if the rubber was ok but it just crumbles away in your hands....... I dare not chance it.
Last time on the road was Oct 66 as the tax disc in the front screen says and that will also stay there, she has never been touched since. _________________ Paul

She is a real survivor, off the road since Oct66, with buff RF60 logbook, blue V5 complete, I could have sent this of for the V5C and lost it, I paid the £25 for the new V5C but hey ho I wanted to keep all that I could.
It does say Taxation class Not Licenced, do you know what that means Richard ? _________________ Paul

Back in 1983, the DVLA decided to computerise their records. They were quite out of date, and they didn't want a load of long-dead cars on file. So they wrote to owners and requested confirmation that the car was still in existence. They set a deadline for responses, and any owners they hadn't had a response from, their cars weren't added to the new system. Lots of classic cars lost their original numbers because the owners didn't reply to this deadline.
I think the then owner responded to their letter by confirming the car was still in existence, but declared that it was off the road. Hence 'not licensed'. _________________ Richard Hughes |

Ok that sounds interesting, I would assume I will have to contact the DVLA before I tax her to get the Historic Vehicle status, I hope this isn't a long on going saga as I want to be on the road ASAP.
Am I correct in thinking that the Austin club National is somewhere in Norfolk, if so it would be a target to head for I know I would get a bit of stick from some members but the counter plan is to get Neil to take my A30. _________________ Paul

Yes, the V5 will need switching to Historic. Just the same as changing one from PLG to Historic, although I haven't done one of those since they closed the local offices. Perhaps you can do it online now?
The rally is in Diss, about 15 minutes from my cottage. I'd quite like to shuffle all my cars down there, but I'm not a national rally sort of person. It's only that it's that close that I'm considering it!
I remember your A30, and your A35 that you had the mishap in. Is that one still in Neil's never-ending queue of projects? My baby Austin has just been rewired, but I'm still chasing out electrical faults. First it was the indicators that wouldn't work, then the heater, then I did 20 miles without incident. Then I moved it to a space down the road so we could turn the Standard round, and it conked out reversing into said space. The electric fuel pump appeared to have stopped working, except, on further investigation, the wipers and flashers had stopped too. The fuse is ok.
