If I may reminisce for a moment?...I remember when my Company car- a Lancia Beta - had a CV joint disintegrate right in the middle of Dunster. There were bits scattered all over the road! A kindly local farmer towed us behind his tractor to a garage. I recall he refused any payment for his trouble.
The spare part had to come from Italy so we had a prolonged holiday. Every cloud.... |

We were given this photo recently by a family member. At the wheel of this lovely Austin 7 is my maternal Grandfather, its early post-war. The young girl is a living relative and he is wearing army battledress.

Not such an old photo, this is my late friend's Singer Le Mans, taken on its maiden trip after a total restoration. The location is Crummock Water in the Lake District, in November 1968.
The car disappeared from view after Bruce sold it a few years later, and has been unknown to the Singer Club since, so it was a surprise to find it less than ten miles from me just as I last remembered it. I doubt if it has done a thousand miles in the last fifty years!

The 'Rocks' look like Winnats Pass, near Castleton in the Peak District.

My folks traded in a 1949 Studebaker in on a New 1951 Studebaker and bought a huge trailer and towed it from Pennsylvania where we were living out to the land of opportunity California in 1951.
I remember laying in the shelf below the back window playing tail gunner
too bad my mom cut my dad's head off

I think the ban the bomb on the side of the trailer is just some kind of reflection. My sergeant major father would not have any of that .
- Ban the bomb was more of a 60's thing
It was a Studebaker Champion flat head 6
