Have you tried asking the A30/A35 Owners Club? http://www.austina30a35ownersclub.co.uk/

Hi
Have you seen this thread, it seems to imply that there are 2 different types of distributor and points for the 803cc.

Thanks for all the replies. I have now ordered a new set of points and a condenser. They are Lucas parts and cost me £6.99 delivered. This may be a small risk, but the parts look very much like those on the car. I have enclosed a picture, so comments are welcome

Dizzy was either a DM2 (early) or a 25D (later).

Points are Lucas 423153 for both.

All sorted. After spending hours researching it, and getting emails back from suppliers who know absolutely nothing about the product they sell, I eventually got the advice I needed from a member of the A30/A35 club. The part is a 25D4 set of points. I managed to buy a set of Lucas points and condenser for £6.99 from ebay. The points on their own would have been £3.99 inc postage opposed to the £19.20 quoted by two other suppliers. The two suppliers in question wanted as much for the postage as this seller wanted for the part and postage, how does that work ?

It depends if the Lucas parts you have bought are made by Lucas or not, you might find out at a later date. Its amazing the amount of Lucas parts available, sometimes the only thing connected to Lucas is the name on the box.

For decades, Lucas may have 'bought-in' components from other makers, rather than producing for themselves.

In the past, when I was 'involved' with rear-engined Skodas, I discovered that the Skoda Estelle/Rapid radiator fans were identical in every respect, to those supplied & fitted to Allegros.
Indeed, component parts could be swapped directly from [Lucas] to PAL fans, etc. Even the shrouds were identical.
I therefore concluded Lucas must have contracted PAL to supply these fans?

Umm. I can't believe how hard this is. I suspect that the part is a 25D4, but as hard as I search I can't be sure. For sure the part looks similar on the internet. Even my work shop manual only refers to the part suitable for an 848cc engine, whereas mine has an 803cc engine (1954 A30). Believe it or not, I have contacted numerous ebay sellers, and none of them have a part listed for my car. Do you think the 25D4 set will fit (listing below)

As a matter of interest I ended up putting in an electronic ignition for £30, and have never looked back
