Any tips on removing paint from a chrome grill? I have been using very fine wet and dry paper up till now.

Hi
Brake fluid is a great paint stripper, unless there is a danger of getting it on the rest of the paintwork.

Nitromors or similar chemical strippers won't damage sound chrome in my experience.

Similarly, the front of the Royale has got splattered with paint from doing the Standard! It's got on the paintwork, the headlights, the chrome bumper, rubber overriders and the original, 40 year old front number plate which is laminated plastic. Not overly worried about the paintwork and overriders as that will T-cut off but I don't want to scratch the numberplate or headlights using that. I'll probably use thinners for the headlights but at a loss what to use to get it off the numberplate - any ideas?

My 47 Hillman Minx was resprayed many years before my ownership, for some reason they sprayed the chrome grill the same as the rest of the car.
