SAVE THE DATE! SEVEN REASONS TO ATTEND THE FOOTMAN JAMES CLASSIC VEHICLE RESTORATION SHOW 2019.

The Footman James Classic Vehicle Restoration Show celebrates all things classic and is the place to be if you enjoy seeing classic cars restored to their natural beauty.

Running over the weekend of November 2-3 at Shepton Mallet, the third and final Bristol Classic Car Show of the year is ideal for meeting like-minded hobbyists and picking up advice, hints and tips from the people who know the ins and outs of restoration like the back of their hand. Among the specialist traders and jumblers, there are loads of attractions on display. Here are seven highlights to look out for!

1. Haynes International Motor Museum

Haynes International Motor Museum will once again be bringing a live restoration workshop and enthusiasts will have the chance to witness the high standard of work and craftsmanship that goes into restoring a Haynes vehicle. An array of immaculate two and four-wheeled classics from a bygone era will also be displayed for visitors to admire at their leisure.

2. Charterhouse Auctions

Often bringing as many as 100 lots with them to go under the hammer, Charterhouse Auctioneers guarantee to have something to cater for all tastes, interests and budgets.

The Exmoor Hall is home to Charterhouse Auctioneers and Valuers for the weekend, and will be open free of charge for visitors on the Saturday. If you fancy having a look on the Sunday, or perhaps you’ve seen a lot you want to bid on, you’ll need to buy a catalogue from the Charterhouse staff.

Look out for a full list of lots set to go under the hammer in the run-up to the show. A full list can be found on the Charterhouse Auction website closer to the show.

3. Car Clubs

These incredible groups of people have helped shaped the classic car scene to what it is today. A few of them have been attending our shows since the first ever show, almost 40 years ago, and we can’t thank them enough for their loyalty. Make sure you hang around for the awards ceremony at 4pm on the Sunday, where you’ll see the top three clubs pick up their cash prize awards.

Keep an eye on cvrs.bristolclassiccarshows.com closer to the show for a full list of the clubs attending.

4. Classic Car Park

One of the highlights of the weekend, the Classic Car Park is often the last ride-out before tucking up the classics ready for the winter. Drivers can enter the Classic Car Park for just £5 – it’s somewhere you will often find photographers, journalists and enthusiasts alike. All those who park up in the Classic Car Park are automatically entered to win an award and rosette each day.

5. Traders and Jumblers

Inside the spacious halls of the Royal Bath & West Showground, there will be a huge range of independent traders giving you the chance to grab a bargain and find the special parts you need for your restoration project. Visitors can enjoy a wealth of traders, jumblers and service providers showcasing their goods during the weekend. The Automotive Garage clear-out gives guests the chance to rehome their old possessions, or the chance to grab a bargain.

6. Kit Car Hall

Fancy making your own kit car? The Kit Car Hall will include a range of traders selling kits and accessories to get you on your way to creating your very own pride and joy. The clubs attending include Westfield Sports Car Club, GTM Owners Club, Speedsters & Spyders, DNA Owners Club and Kitnet UK. The Kit Car Hall will also be home to Complete Kit Car Magazine, who will be talking all things kit car, offering help and advice to visitors.

7. Action Model Centre Have-a-Go Remote Control Car Track

Fancy having a go whizzing a remote controlled racing car around a track? Action Model Centre is bringing its collection of remote controlled cars and a specialist track for visitors to feel the thrill of racing. Re-live the excitement you felt as a child when you experienced the fun of a remote controlled car for the first time with these specially designed remote controlled cars.

Tickets are just £9 for an adult when purchased in advance, 15s and under go free. Advance tickets close at 8.30am on Monday, October 28, 2019.

My wife worked at the Bath and West for best part of 20 years, in that time my father and I have attended almost all the cars shows at the site. Like many things they are not as good as they used to be, having 3 shows on the same site offering the same things each year doesn't engage us anymore.

It is the same traders with much the same wares each time and the last show we attended there had at least 10 non motoring related stands selling things from jewellery to cheese! Lots of complaints at that one from people we know.

We keep saying we wont go but always end up stopping in for a look round. They need to make some changes really or drop one of the shows.
