I'm brand new to this forum and have the possibility of obtaining this vehicle but there are no identifying marks on it to say what it is. I think it may be around 1927 or a few years newer. The only information I have apart from photo is reg no PG239, Chassis 80609 and car no A8 or AB3175. Also as it's not registered at DVLA they have sent me a V55/5 form to register a vehicle for the first time but this seems a bit too simple. Any help or advice would be much appreciated thanks. I can email a photo just don't know how to upload here.

Welcome aboard. PG is, I believe, a 1929-1930 issue (Surrey).

To display a photo, you need to have signed up with a photo hosting site such as flickr or imgur. If you're struggling with that, as it's just one photo, email it to me and I'll sort out its hosting (email is in the How To Register link at the top of this page).

Ok here goes. To me the main car looks like an Austin 7, the radiator looks like a Triumph Super 7 (or perhaps another related model), while the headlamps look later than both, so I think we might have a mixed bag of parts rather than one complete car (unless the Austin front end parts are hiding under the other items?).

One of the plates on the bulkhead says "(something) Motor Company" I think, most likely Austin Motor Company.

What a great find. Others will know more I'm sure, especially with regard to the style and age of body shown here.

That's an interesting find!!!

1929 is about right because this is a late model, (short chassis) "Top hat" saloon identified by the large single windscreen and headlamps moved from the scuttle to the front wings.

Depending on the exact date of manufacture this could have either coupled or earlier uncoupled brakes. There are lots of interesting features which can be investigated.

Mike Costigan is your man for the details.

Here is a fair example.

As Rick and Ray have identified, the saloon is an RF fabric saloon from early 1929, the chassis and car numbers you quote match (the car number is A8 not AB). The radiator and registration number are from a Triumph Super Seven of similar age, but do not come from that car, and the headlamps look to be mid-1930s, possibly from a later Austin.

This is how the car should look:

In order to get a registration number issued, you will need to get a letter authenticating the date of manufacture from one of the DVLA-recognised Austin Seven clubs; you will then be issued with an age-related number, although that may not happen until the car is ready for the road.

Any other bits and pieces in the boxes stored with the car?
