I'll have to cut the trees down around it by the time we're allowed out again! |
It's starting to look that way, isn't it? I think the jobsworth brigade in Wales are having too much fun to significantly ease lockdown any time soon whatever the virus situation may be.
I have a couple of weeks holiday owing that has to be taken by mid August, but I think I'll just take it as a bonus on days I would be off anyway, not like we can go anywhere interesting. |

I have been using the P38 for "essential" journeys into Derby. I have been on a course of PBM (photobiomodulation) therapy at the Chiropractors clinic so have an excuse for getting out of the house. People generally don't yet think of the P38 Range Rover as a classic car so it tends not to get noticed. |

Ditto with my Discovery, Ray. Driving the classic RR always turned heads, but the Disco is just a working car! |

The thing I can't explain is what it is about the Range Rover that it just feels right. It doesn't have masses of power, it's steering is a bit vague and apart from the fact it drinks fuel like it's going out of fashion, there is always something needs fixing....but I just feel at home somehow.??
Perhaps it's just me.? |

It is getting on for forty years since I bought the E-type, and even in 2014 when she had a rebuild for six months I don't think I have ever done less miles in her. And one does wonder if all the niggles that seem to keep cropping up is because she is so static. Use it or lose it I guess. |

Ray, I missed that post, but no, it's not just you. After over twenty years of classic RRs, I bought the Disco because classics were getting out of my price range. I had it modified in a few subtle ways, and it is a very good car, but it still lacks the "presence" of a RR. As I think I said once before, with the last one, I didn't get in it; I put it on, like a favourite old coat!
As we're saving so much money by not going on holiday in the caravan every couple of weeks, I might just have to count my pennies, and buy another one, but would it be the same? I had the last LSE for over ten years, the longest I have ever kept a car, so another one, like the Disco, has a hard act to follow.! |

Hi Emerson. I would be tempted to see what you can get in the way of RR. With the market so depressed you may pick up a bargain. I have seen some interesting imports from Japan that might have tempted me if I had an income. My P38 will also be a hard act to follow as it is a special edition.
Maybe things will improve. I really hope there is not another spike in the Covid infection rate but even if there is I don't think as many people will be willing to go back into lockdown as before and will try to run the gauntlet. (You can't put the Genie back in the bottle.) |

Ray, the cheapest LSE on ebay is £27,000! If I spent that much on a car I think Anne's reaction might result in me talking in a squeaky voice! |

Since the lock down because I live on my own I have to go shopping once a week. The Cadillac has become my shopping trolley. I do get a few strange looks rolling into Aldi's car park and taking up about 1 1/2 spaces, but they are not very busy, plenty of space and if you've got it flaunt it. |

Doing my first little rally with friends today, visiting a mueum, picnic, another visit and I suppose 130 miles in all. Just a gentle easing back in so to speak. |

Through personal choice (and out of respect for others and the emergency/front line workers) I have not used my old cars since last September. The lockdown easing means, presumably, I could go out now but in my opinion it’s all moving to quick so I shall give it a couple of weeks, see where we are then, and perhaps plan a run out towards the end of the month. _________________ Hillman minx convertible. Out yesterday in Mustang....
Usually twice a week, shopping, pills, etc, only use my oldies...
because they're better looked after, they're less likely to conk out than my moderns, which I've parked up out of the way _________________ Dellow Mk2, 1951 built, reg 1952.

A little outing with friends yesterday, and an interesting and eclectic bunch we were. We went to see a well-known watercolor painter who specialises in motor racing. Each took a picnic and a great time was had by all.
Thumbsnap is down at the moment. I'll get the pix up when I can.
OK, let's try again. It worked for the engine photos.
Here is the chassis plate. I never knew these existed:-
