Fresh from making their "continuation" D, E and XKSS replicas, Jaguar are now offering a replica of the first two cars made, 77RW, the roadster and 9600 HP the coupé, both of which went to Geneva for the launch of the E-type in 1961. They will be sold as a matching pair to enhance your collection, and only six pairs will be available.
They are using a 1963 for both coupe and convertible.
So the cars will not be flat floors.
They will be negative earth
They are putting in 5 speed boxes with a navigation radio.
They will fit outside bonnet locks with the t handle.
No aluminium hatch
No perspex glass
No early rivets
You are buying 1963 E-types that they supply and restore for a mere £850,000 for the pair. Now with one of each of the D, lightweight E and XKSS continuation cars coming up for auction next month with a minimum estimate of 2/3rds the cost price three years ago, how do they think they will get people to pay stupid money for non-standard cars from 1963, not even 1961? You could buy wrecks and fully restore them for less than half the money, and get them right too.
There are other 1 offs but they do give you the new jack and tool kit for which from memory the Classic division would otherwise wish to charge you nearly £2,000. And they couldn't even get those right either. The world has gone mad. |
