when these new covid measures come into force will it mean the end for these informal and formal car meets we have seen around the country?
i have been to several and never felt in danger but there are a few people who seem to think it is back to normal!
had planned to go to several over the next few weeks, i wonder if they will still be on?

It looks like any group gatherings are stuffed for the foreseeable, until such time as digital health passports are enabled and we're permitted to socialise in pre-ordained groups. Or people stand up to what's being rolled out and begin to question things en masse. Ho hum.

I personally think thats the end of the season, not that there was much of one.

I agree that some people still act like nothing is happening. Away from classics we took a trip down to Weymouth the other day to see cruise liners moored in the bay due to Covid. You would not believe the sheer number of people outside the pubs and bars etcon the quayside. Hundreds and hundreds, no social distancing, not a mask in sight and a lot of very drunk people. No wonder the government has to take action when there are people out there like that.

Unfortunately, they can't legislate for stupidity. Whatever the rules, there will always be an element who think they don't apply to them. Rolling Eyes

As information only because it is likely that not many readers will know what is happening in this little corner of the world.
New Brunswick. Canada,

The New Brunswick government is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

There have been no new recoveries, either, leaving the active case count at two.

There is one case each in the Moncton and Saint John health regions, and Public Health has said the individuals are self-isolating.

To date, there have been 192 confirmed cases in New Brunswick, 188 recoveries and two deaths.

On Tuesday, 305 tests were conducted, raising the overall total to 64,761.

The population head per square mile/km is low, there are not that many large towns/cities. Our local village has a population of about 1200.

The local stores have all the protection/sanitizers etc in place but perhaps one of the key reasons for having low figures is "social discipline".... I will leave it there..... Stay Safe.

Well, I live just over the hill from the first Welsh local lockdown in the Caerphilly CBC area, and with what I've seen while working in Blackwood since the original lockdown was eased I'm not surprised in the least.

I thought that reopening the pubs was a stupid idea in the first place and so it has proved - huge queues with 0 distancing to get in the pubs early on and then crowds of drunks spilling halfway across the road later on, again with 0 distancing. No wonder the virus is spreading! Then there's children spreading it amongst themselves, the schools may have only just opened but for long enough now it's been common to see gangs of 20 or 30 youngsters rambling round together, no idea how many households they represent but "lots" pretty well covers it. Supermarkets may well be another problem area, yes they all went way over the top at first with the masive queues to get in but now they've gone to the opposite extreme and there's no attempt at all to control the numbers.

But then, seeing as the Government have not only bungled everything from the off but effectively declared themselves above the rules they expect the proles to keep to, is it any wonder?

Don't get me started on shops.

We went into a town a week or so ago, its the first time my wife has ventured into town throughout the pandemic. She wanted to go to her favourite local deli, the sign outside clearly said maximum 2 people so there was a queue (quite long). Next thing we know there is basically a scuffle starting between some lets just say OAP's about who was in the queue first and the fact that they had to wait. One then simply said some expletives and marched straight in the shop, hasten I say with no bloody mask on!!

What could the shopkeeper do you ask? Very little, they cant enforce anything apart from refusing to serve.

This pandemic really has brought out the 'true' nature of some of the population!

Government has stated several times this week that the re-introduced Covid 19 regulations could be in place until Spring 2021. If your an organiser of outdoor shows, whatever they may be, that is bad news. How can shows be organised for next Summer without risk of very expensive cancellations. Crying or Very sad

We're going to our first organised event of the year on Sunday, The Sherwood Classic Tour - it looks like it may also be the last!

We're not too concerned as we're more than happy doing our own thing and have just returned from a week's holiday with Riley Blue in Tenby, driving home to Chesterfield via St David's Head and Ness Point, Lowestoft.

The only hic-cup was a misfire cured by fitting a replacement rotor arm - plus the realisation that I'm getting too old and stiff to bend over a hot engine. Nevertheless, it was a thoroughly enjoyable trip through areas of Wales and England we haven't visited much.

our car club has cancelled all meetings and outings until next year ( and further notice) suspending membership fees etc . with covid rates rising rapidly many lockdowns will begin to start all over country. Aware its often the selfish ( won't affect me and I'M OK mate) groups that seem to be main reason its kicking off again. often see large groups around having great fun.chats/drinks. ( no masks or social distancing) mostly around 17-35 age group but there are All age groups ignoring social distancing it seems. Even in supermarkets we see almost all staff wearing no PPE at all! yet passing by and mixing with customers (Tesco you ought to be ashamed) current expert assessment seems to be saying any vaccine is only affective for few weeks at best and therefore virus will spread in 'waves' much like flu. sadly it will impact us all probably for next few years until enough people have had disease and have built a form of 'immunity' ( symptoms less severe) and infection rates tail off. so far they are saying could be several years.so car meets. may well change forever as few will be allowed to stand right next to vehicles and chat to owners without full sanitation and PPE . oh well .lets suspect worse and hopefully get least affect for all Smile

Given that testing rates are many times that of a few months back, and that hotspots are being targeted, I suspect infection rates aren't increasing by as much as is being portrayed. Previously they wouldn't have been picked up. More important are hospital admission numbers and fatalities, which appear to be pretty flat - not that any of the figures being bandied about are exactly accurate, given how easily "covid" is applied to death certificates when other causes are responsible.

Plus any figures should be offset by the thousands of other hospital and GP appointments that aren't taking place, and resulting in unnecessary deaths.

Increased restrictions and the devastating impact on society, business, mental health and so on, aren't justified by the published figures. IMO. Alas no-one is questioning all these new laws being rushed through.

Not that this is the place to be discussing all this.
