Ad on the internet. Seller says it is a 1949 but the year seems wrong. There are more pics in the link - click on them to enlarge. The grille says prewar I think.

How can you see what type Austin this is. The body looks standard Austin to me. A Sixteen, Eighteen or maybe Twenty? Note no edges to the front and rear wings. Pressed wheels would suggest 1937 or later?

Strange that the Austin badge on the grille surround is upside down. I would agree, 1937/8/9 seems likely. MikeC might recognise the exact model.

I suggest it is an Austin 14 Goodwood from mid 1938

Late 30's possibly 1938, Austin 18/6 Norfolk, is my suggestion.

It's very difficult to tell from the photos but think on balance the 14/6 Goodwood is more likely than the 18.

As far as I am aware the main external difference is in the length of the body. The width and frontal frontal views are the same even down to having a maximum of 26 vertical slats in the radiator cowl. Both models had two two "door" type vents in each bonnet panel and both had a divided rear window.
