Good choice, my first spannerings were on a Mk3 Spit in the dim and distant past.

Hello! so, as I promised few more images of the beast! Loads of rust everywhere, I'm still taking it apart but also started to putting some parts back together and waiting for the new parts to arrive. Brakes, steering and shocks all need complete redoing but it really is so easy to work on this little thing!!

The only trouble I'm having is to find a new bonnet... any good advice?

Thanks a lot people!
cheers

Bonnets are always a problem on the Herald/Vitesse/Spitfire range; you can hunt around and maybe pick up a better bonnet, only to find it still needs the same repairs.

Complete brand-new bonnets are available at a price, but you are probably better off getting replacement wings and arches and repairing your existing bonnet.

I remember having the same bonnet dilemma in the late 1980s, I went with a fibreglass replacement as a temporary fix but it wasn't the best fit. If I were to do the same thing now, I think I'd look out a better original steel bonnet than I had at the time, then have it repaired as necessary.

Thanks for your answers.

The brand new replacement bonnets are a bit out of my budget....

Best idea as you said is probably replacement panels, but it is going to be a very hard, nasty job and not crazy cheap either. Think I'll wait a bit more see if I find any bargain on ebay...

I'll carry on with the rest in the meantime!

thanks al lot

Hello again,

after a bit of fiddling around I managed to fit the new brake caliper, but, the gap is slightly different on the two sides.
On the right hand side there only is a 2mm gap, It looks alright to me but is it really?

Thanks a lot for you advice!
All best
