Question, my 1942 Commer handbook quotes the gearbox oil as 'Shell EP Spirax Heavy', would that be EP 90 or EP 140?

What do you think?

Offhand I'm not sure on the weight, but EP can cause problems if there are any bronze bushes in the gearbox iirc - best check to be sure.

Yes Rick, I have been advised against the EP oils. The WD oil grade in the book is C600, I have now been reliably informed the modern equivalent is SAE140 which is safe for use with yellow metals.
