I appreciate that a 30 year old VW Golf will be to young for many members, but the old girl has done 324469 miles, and imho deserves to be saved, currently on a Copart auction:

Age will never make that appealing to me, we had an orange Mk2 not dissimilar to that one and it was the most tedious (albeit well-screwed-together) appliance we've ever owned, utterly uninteresting in every single way. Life's too short etc etc Smile

(I'm not a fan)

I had two Mk 1 Golfs, one Mk 1 Jetta GLi, and later a Mk 2 16 valve. The last I sold after six months; I did not get on with it at all. I'm with you Rick; rose-tinted glasses are a damned nuisance sometimes.

Whether you like Golfs or not, I would have thought that example was way past saving when you can pick up a well-preserved example for peanuts - a one-owner example, admittedly petrol not diesel, with less than 30,000 miles on the clock, has just sold on eBay for under £2,000.

Some years back I drove a 130?? turbo diesel from Edinburgh to London. I enjoyed driving it.
