It doesn't apply to anything of mine but I hadn't realised that it is illegal to drive a car, where the colour has changed and DVLA not been notified. Assuming the article is correct, I've not checked.

Hi
What do you tell DVLA when your car has been given a bonnet, both N/S doors, both O/S doors and a boot lid or hatch, all from different cars in different colours none of which is the same as the body shell?
I've just realised I could have added both front wings to that list as well.

Tell them it's now tartan colour? Smile

Will DVLA accept ''multicoloured?''

I suspect.....DVLA may not do a lot about a change of colour, unless they are notified via the V5c that the colour was changed 6 or 7 years ago? But, have only just been informed?

Change of colour is easy to deal with, but in the current covid-climate, it might take DVLA quite some considerable time to not only update records, especially online...and to return the new V5c?

I think there's a bot of 'jumping-on-the-bandwagon' going on in this instance?

It is easy to say DVLA have been notified using correct channels....but that systems haven't been updated yet?

For my part, I usually check when appropriate, that all my vehicles that are road-worthy, have their insurance information displayed on MID, first of all.

That way I know I will not get any ANPR excited, for 'not insured'....[even if, in fact, I am]...

The bigger crime is the "Sun" calling a Mk3 Cortina a "Vintage car".

They are not ignorant; no, they are being deliberately obtuse. Mad

I wonder how DVLA dealt with the VW Polo Harlequins back in the day?

You can actually have "Multi-Colour" as the colour on a v5

Out of curiosity I checked the DVLA website for a modern SUV that I spotted in a local carpark. It was a sort-of browny, orangey, coppery, gold colour, and I wondered what DVLA described it as. Answer: red!

Do you remember that run of Beetles that were painted in different coloured stripes side to side? What were they registered as? Rainbow?
