Hi all,

The other day I decided to give the Anglia a gearbox oil change, what was in there didn't look toooooo bad but I wasn't quite sure what grade or type of oil it was, so decided to err on the side of caution.

There was then a good excuse to take it out for a spin.

The key points from this pleasant day are now here: https://youtu.be/4WkNuW2YRsE I also describe the "new owner" notes as presented to purchasers of these old Fords, back in the day, plus have a quick word about the recent Minor vid and also seek help in identifying an old car badge.

Hillman went through a phase of winged hexagons for a while.

It's looking like Hillman is the most likely source of that "14" badge.

Junior decided this evening to do a walkaround vid about the Anglia for his own channel:

If that Anglia is still around Jones Towers in a few years time I suspect Harley will be passing his test in it. Loved the Shell oil change reminder that is still valid.

Hi
Unfortunately the minimum requirements for a car on a driving test include seat belts and seats with built in head restraints.
So unless it gets modernised he won't be able to do as Peter suggests.

Of course there might, by then, be further "enhancements" required.

Ah! I didn't know that. I suppose I should have realised it is for the safety of the examiner propelled by an inexperienced driver.

I didn't know that either. What ever happened to personal choice? In the past, if the examiner took a dislike to the vehicle, they simply refused to get in it.

On Saturday the Anglia was given a modest brush-up and check-over in readiness for a classic car show and short road run, the subject of today's upload to the OCC channel. Includes a little talk about 8hp and 10hp Ford sv engines, period mods to "up" the performance slightly on an 1172cc engine, and demo'ing a vintage Dunlop footpump and a couple of fine old tyre pressure test gauges.

We made it to the show on Sunday and took part in the road run as planned, all in all a very pleasant day out. I was expecting lots of people to ask me when I was going to polish the Ford, or re-paint it, but happily everyone I spoke to was quite insistent that it should remain in its shabby original overcoat, which was good to hear.

The real kick in the guts is when you have spent hundreds of hours restoring a car and someone asks "are you going to restore it?"

Nice to do something normal again yesterday, attending an evening car meet. The Anglia hadn't been out in a while so a trip out was well overdue.

Rick: Are you on any movie/tv lists for vehicles ? There always seems to be a lot of "immaculate" versions on screen. Perhaps for a Tom Cruise movie in the future ?

No I've not looked into that kind of thing really, maybe I should do as yes there are typically wayyyyy too many shiny cars in films set years back.
