Reminds me, I have a (broken) Wolseley stationary engine to collect some time, in fact buzzy caught me in the act of buying it Very Happy

Has a crack on the side that would do justice to the San Andreas Fault, so might end up being wiped over with an oily rag, and used as a plant pot holder, at least during the dryer months Smile will report back once I've collected it, at least it is mounted on a nice wooden trolley, with cast wheels, so easy enough to move about

rustyrecks, don't you have a Wolseley too??

Hi

When you get it, find me the details, engine number and I will try to geta date for you, also I can ask around to see if anyone has a new crankcase, so you can do a bit of mechanics and get it running, or you could get it welded, there must be places that weld cast, I think there is one in Shrewsbury. You could then run a pump to water the rest of the garden, got to win you some brownie points eh? Wink Wink Very Happy

Cheers

Dave

P.S... I never updated this thread! I now have a Lister D, and may be looking for another, but will only grt one if it is a real bargain!

Interesting …

“…..You could then run a pump to water the rest of the garden…..”

How would that work? We already have an outside tap, so would it be connected directly to it? Confused

Hi

Hmmm, well you could find a local river, stream or pond to pump it out off, with permision of course, otherwise you would have to use a hose pipe to fill a tank, then use the engine to pump it onto the garden, defeating the purpose a little, but you could collect rain water and pump that, or use a large chain of water butts! Some would say, just use a hose pipe, but where is the fun in that!

With a stationary engine the options are endless! hehe

Cheers

Had another look at the prospective Wolseley stationary engine, I think it might be possible to codge up (for now) the crack in the side, and then I'll see if I can get it fired up - might rope in buzzy if I can't sort it out Wink

Hi

I will do what ever you need, and help to the best of my abilty, as long as I am not stuck between you and erinddors, I don't like disagreements, but from what I saw at the weekend, this is one purchase erinddors liked!!

Cheers

Dave

P.S... Is the crack actually in a structual part, or is it just a matter the oil may leak!?

Hi

Ah water, in someways that is better, but you do need water! I wonder if you could lead it?

I supose if it will be water tight and will stand up to the vibrations of the engine, it should be ok!

Ok here's a pic of the Wolseley stationed outside the back door, suitably oiled up. Er indoors had been warned not to carry any washing too close to it, or brush against it when walking through the door, otherwise there'll be dire words directed my way no doubt Laughing the rotten patch on the water jacket is at the back, out of sight!

Hi

Oh hell!

I have just bought another engine, a Petter aircooled one this time, only small, 1.5hp at 850rpm, this one might even fit in the mini, if I remove the pasenger seat!

Cheers

Dave

P.S... Pics to follow when I pick it up!

hehe you can't help yourself can you Very Happy

Did you see that pile of Lister handbooks at the car boot sale the other day? I didn't have a close look, but saw them lying on the floor. The youngish bloke used to work for them, so perhaps the publications weren't too old

Hi

Perhaps a good job I mised the manuals!

I think this is a good buy as I can take it to a rally or a crank up in the mini, bet I will be the only mini transporting an engine!

It doesn't run just now but there is a jault at the lead and good compression, so hopefully a good clean and it will run away, well, not literally or it would have been a total waste! hehe Laughing Rolling Eyes

Cheers
