don't understand that one myself. we sell plenty of Beetle Cabriolets and our customers wear the tops out from using them, but all the other softtop cars i see around are running top-up. our new hardtop retractable, the EOS, sells well and also gets plenty of top down driving. perhaps it's the personality of the owner? VW owners tend to be more "car-aware" than many others; excepting perhaps BMW owners; and our local climate is more top-down friendly than some. i've had a Spit, an MGB, a Mk1 Midget (sticks and fabric top; no fun to put up) and a Fiat 124 Spider, all of which plenty of top down use. i'd have LIKED a hardtop cap for them but never got around to them before the cars sold on. but then they wouldn't have been ragtops.... |
