Surprised at how it's fitted in the first place on a car that cost £25K new.
B & C pillars along with role cage cover with double sided tape...
And how little there is in the sun visors, no wonder mine had collapsed
Still it's all out now, new ready to go in. Including the sunroof.
Once decent sealers used to refit that's another water ingress issue resolved.
Does anyone know suppliers of Tilt & Slide sunroofs, while I've got it in bits could be an upgrade time.

Work to date.
And then I thought I'd better have the mirror in.
Sue needs to check hair and lippy before leaving car.

Hi
Looks really good so far, bit surprising it was sticky tape, how are you going to fit it back in?
Cheers

Hi
I have a story about that, sorry for drifting off topic!
It wasn't very funny at the time, but looking back could have been serious....
I had just bought my bucket seats for my mini, to stop my original rare seats getting dirty/damaged. Then the plastic linings for the harness slots split into two and fell out!
I emailed the suplier and then the factory in Telford, and one of them sent me some of the glue you see a chap selling at shows, 6 times stronger than super glue. His trick is to cut a fan belt, glue it back together and then in a couple of seconds let the viewer try to break it, I was swinging on it and it wound't break!
Anyway I started to stick the slots in and it was raining so closed the car door, (I was outside at the time), within a few minutes I was feeling rather dopey and felt like a little sleep. I was just dropping off, when I thought this is a bot strange, going tired so sudenly and being able to fall asleep in a mini!
I got out and went in the house, soon woke up, but had a splitting head ache for a few hours!
Allways have ventilation when using adesive!
I went into a shop the other day asking for wood glue, asked the guy, he said nope don't sell glue, great I thought! Turned around and there it was on the shelf. felt a little offended the old guy wouldn't sell me some pva glue!
Cheers

As commented by a fellow Excel owner.
No need to worry about the fumes with a big hole in the roof like that.
Day job is a Laboratory Manager for a German Chemical Company,so am well trained in handling voltile/flammable/Toxic materials. So that's no gloves, doors closed and breath deep then.....

Did anyone see Top gear with the amphibious cars, I bet you are like Richard Hamond with his toxic smoke!
Cheers

Its's done........
The hardest part turn out to be what I'd thought would be the easiest
The sunroof
It took two goes and lots of swearing.
Where it laps round overthe screws and then the rubber trim pushes in was glued. I've dry jointed which means I can remove the sunroof, should I need to, without damaging the headlining.
The sunroof to roof has plenty of guttering sealant in. This does not dry hard but remains flexible. Should be no more leaks there then.
Now it's back to driving for a few weeks. |

Hi
Looks good, bet you are ready to have a good drive aren't you, and as a bonus there hasn't been too many gritters out recently, at least to the extent they were a few weeks ago!
Cheers
