1982 Mini City

im in no rush... Very Happy
car was Born in 1982 this isnt that old, shes comiing up to 26 years old. shes a 1.0l with some extra go go engine parts. ive had her for the past 7/8 years now. currently shes is a shell. shes haven a light weight beam axle on her with full spax coilover suspention., im also going for a vertical flip front, see pics below, using a fibreglass front end. everything is being put back in very good condition. im in no rust to finish her off as i have 2 other to complete too.

main reason for taking her off the road was rust and a worn clutch. and the more i took off the more rust i found, hence the reason it did look nice before i striped it.
please see acouple of pics as time has past over the last couple of years.

this is the flip im doing on her:

and thats about where it is now

Edited due to me moving the pics and loseing the links on here.

nice pick up though I am more keen on standardish looking ones!!

never seen a flip front like that though quite handy, at least u dont risk scratching it by putting it somewhere else when u need to do some work on the engine!!

and if you have quick relise subframbe mounts for the engine you can have the engine out in minuites.

one day i would like to but something with more of a kick under the bonnet, thats the advantage of this tpe of flip front, theres nothing you cant do.

I like that flip front Idea, and anyone who had to change a radiator hose on the old shape mini would too!

its not that difficult to change a bottom hose, just take off the grill and the rad!!
done it twice last summer on both minis cause I took off the rads one to be cleaned and the other one re chored from 2 to 3!!
while at it changed the water pump and bottom hose on the blue mini, the green one look to be ok so left them alone!!

this summer am planning on takin the engine out in the blue one and tidy up the engine bay and engine!!
but thats another story I'll write down in the appropriate thread!!

Hi

I don't know about the quick release bit, but a garage I worked at in the early '60s used to lift the body off the whole underbonnet engine and subframe assembly when doing anything substantial.
