Could anyone please tell me if the older style Fan-Belts are still available ie: without the 'Teeth'.
If so, where from as I would like to get one for my 103e Ford Popular.
Many Thanks,
Greg

Idea I shall give them a call tomorrow.

Some of the 10hp vans have different size pulleys I think, I remember seeing belts listed for certain year ranges only, so probably won't harm to have details of pulley size to hand when ordering a new belt

If you have got an original, take it to any "Power Transmission" or "Bearings" distributor and ask them for a match. They are usually half the price of a classic parts supplier.

A word of caution using NOS fanbelts.
Some of these belts have been lying around for years and as we all know rubber can and does deteriorate after a while.

If you do fit a NOS belt keep a close eye on it as it could break prematurely

Can you get new fan belts for yours then? I have found it almost impossible to get even NOS for my 39 16. Some do last longer than others though. Modern cogged ones are only 12mm wide which will just about do but do not last very long.

I thought I had hit luck with an Austin club which had commissioned a run of rare belts for the big Austin 6's but it turned out to be 1" too long and although a different dynamo bracket could have been fitted the dynamo would have been so close to the bonnet side panel any engine movement would have damaged something.

I carry a Brammer belt for emergency now as well as the spare NOS, as you said its an unknown quantity and this could fail.

It has been said (by those selling old belts!) that new belts are too stiff and can damage water pump bearings - they seem too flexible to me.

Any thoughts out there - I would never buy NOS brake rubbers for the same reason even though many are sold all the time (at least the P2 does not need these)

Phil,

The NOS belts for the P2 are a big problem and has been discussed at great lenghts on the RSR forum.

Surely there must be someone somewhere who could run off a batch of belts......

Anyone?

Yes I know - I started it Laughing

The problem is that there are so many different ones at least 5 for the 100mm 6's used in the 14/16/20's and they were not common sizes either. So which size would be made.

I will look out the ones its does fit for my model Ferodo V132

I have a 103E 'sit up and beg' pop and have loads of fan belts that I've bought and can't fit - good idea to give length when ordering - even then you may still get a 'wrong en' I do - lol

Hi Phil

You may have some luck trying farm machinery spares suppliers. I can still get new belts for my 48 Vanguard cheaply (as well as engine kits) as there are still heaps of Fergie tractors in use.

Its a long shot but also you could try some of the industrial belt manufactureres as they may be bale to match it up. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips - I am still looking One of Rovers annoying habits that no one model year has identical parts mine just happens to be the rarest

I do not trust NOS at all but some can be good others worse than nothing if it holes the newly recored rad when it breaks on the first trip out.
