Saw Nickwv’s question on a custom exhaust. Thought I’d start a new thread because I don’t think this will help him with a custom exhaust, but may help if you need a standard one.
A few years ago the exhaust on my Morris 8 failed past the point of no return, so I had to set about getting a replacement, the challenge I had was that the pipe fitted bared very little resemblance to the pipe in the parts book, and looked to have been mad up out a few different bits from a variety of cars, so no good as a pattern.
I saw and advert for CES who make and supply pipes for modern cars, but claimed to also supply for classics. So I phoned them up, the conversation went like this;
“I want a exhaust for a Morris 8”
“What year sir?”
“1939”
Click click click of a keyboard…."Series E sir ?"
" yes thats it"
“Front or rear pipe sir?”
“both”
“Mild steel or stainless ?”
“Mild Steel please”
“Where are you located sir?”
“Nantwich”
“Well its going to take 48 hours to get it made up and delivered to our Crewe branch, if you need it any quicker you could pick it up from the factory in Chester !!!”
Still in a state of shock that I had ordered a exhaust as easily as if it was for a 2 year old Mondeo, I sceptically went to pick it up 2 days later, it was a carbon copy of the pipe shown in the Morris parts manual and fitted perfectly.
Here is the website;

They have national branches or will deliver to your home or local tyre & exhaust shop. |
