Browsing eBay earlier, I found a copy of The Motor Cycle magazine for sale. One of the articles in it was a Phans report for Phobof motorcycles.
I wonder how many of you others remember this motorcycle, and its creator. Mike Evans if I remember correctly. |

Me neither. Possibly not the sort of product name destined for greatness. |

Despite it being the cheapest british motorcycle ever, it didnt sell....
Come on guys, anyone who read The Motor Cycle around 1964 or early 1965 should know this.... |

I have several collections of old magazines that list and how these obscure long forgotten makes but that one doesn't ring a bell, as Pigtin says not really a name that has a catchy ring to it! |

Especially if you pronounce the name a little differently.... |

If memory serves it was a wind-up....about which memory fails to serve. It's no good wracking my brains for an answer, at my age there ain't much left to wrack.

The way I feel today, roughly 150.....
The first motorcycle I ever rode was a Royal Enfield Model G, Easter, 1965... |

I have a 1939 600cc Ariel Sq4 sitting in the corner of my garage. I've lost my bottle for riding it, even if I could still kick it over. It'll probably stay there until my son takes it over but it's still nice to look at it occasionally, and dream of what motorcycling was like in the fifties. |

Somewhere I have a copy of the report that the journalist known as Ixion wrote just before the Ariel was shown to the public...If there is one thing that the report makes clear, its the motorcycle design genius of Edward Turner....
Funny thing is, to listen to todays journalists, the first four cylinder was a Honda in 1969...even the pre-was Ariel wasnt the first. |

Phoboff Phryte..... similar to the ubiquitous Henweigh trucks? or the Duckworth? sounds very reminiscent of the old Cyclops Coupe. built from it's own packing crate, there was nothing left to chuck in the bin when it was finished. |
