At a recent car meet the owner of one of the cars on display said that if these cameras take a photo of the old style black/white registrations used on classics then the photos appear as a black oblong/square with no characters showing.

I assume the rest of the vehicle is shown but nothing to identify the actual vehicle.

Is this correct ?

hmm sounds a bit like an urban myth to me .. but perhaps if it was really really faded black background, it'd be more difficult to read, but with all the big brother tech thats around, I wouldnt bet on it being completely illegible ..
