Just a thought... does anyone think the appalling price of fuel is likely to impact on the value of large classic cars? |

I'm not sure to be honest, I was having this conversation with a friend only the other day. As most classics are weekend use only, the hit of silly fuel prices is tempered somewhat. I think what will be hit are large engined, or at least thirsty, cars of more recent years, ie those used on a daily basis.
What it may lead to is an increase in people converting their large-engined cars over to LPG

I don't think it will have an effect on large classics.
After all they are mostly used only on high days and holidays, so limited mileage will keep the cost relatively low.
Where it is hitting is with the more modern large vehicles, like the 94 Range Rover I have. It seems nowadays that anyone who has a classic Range Rover makes more money selling it for parts than they do selling it as a whole.
So long term the larger cars will become extinct
Anyone wish to buy a Rangie? _________________ ROVER

Naah! ....
But it might not improve their elegance ...

That's great! But you have to remember it when reversing.
Anyone remember the cars and vans during WW2 with large bags on the roof containing Town gas, wonder if any of the equipment has survived?

That would never happen with a classic car Peter.
Only modern cars made from tinfoil are light enough to float with a couple of balloons _________________ ROVER

Thought you were being personal Peter, before I played the clip.
Why can't all car adverts be like that, love the music: 'Lakmé", isnt it. |

Next time I am in town I will have a look.
Certainly up until a few years ago the refilling point was still visble at the side of Blackburn Town Hall. |

I know several people that have converted to LPG, but they say the price of gas has risen sharply over the past few months. _________________ 1953 Humber Hawk

Remember... diesel was cheaper until diesel powered cars became popular.
It's a racing certainty they'll do the same with LPG. ministers have no decency whatsoever. (Paddy's just shown how much people trust their politicians... good for Paddy!) |

That is neatly and stylishly done. How unlike the system on the Jag. |
