As requests like this seem to come along quite regularly, I think I'll just open up this new thread and post the latest requests in here, rather than posting a new thread each time!

Hi Rick,
I work on the BBC Crimewatch programme and we are filming a cold case
appeal which happened in 1974. I am looking for a 1970s car possibly a
Morris Minor or some kind of Austin that we could use as a police car
from the time for the reconstruction and I was wondering if it would be
possible to put a notice out on the forum?
We are filming in Swaffham, Norfolk and would need the vehicle for 1 day
on 14th August.

Best thing I would think would be to get in touch with the Morris Minor club direct. I remember the NEC classic car show a few years ago they had an all police theme on there stand and had at least six minor pander cars so they could contact the members direct, or how about the met police don't they have an old police car collection including a nice Rover P6 in Jam sandwich markings. Another request, relating to a series due to go out on BBC4 called The Joy of Motoring..

---------------

Dear Old Classic Car Website

I am an assistant producer for a television production company called
IWC Media. I am making a programme for BBC4 with a working title of
'The Joy of Motoring' which is a social history of motoring in Britain
from post WW1 to modern day.

I love your site and as a newcomer to classic cars I'm enjoying my
research on this! Like you, I too am looking for interesting stories
about car and caravan travel, especially if they have old cine camera or
Super8 film too. This can be anything from remembering their parents or
grandparents cars when they were growing up or if they had a bright
purple Cortina as their first car to a family of 8 sharing a caravan and
loving it - anything really! I wondered if I could post a message on
your site and/or use the forum to tell people about the programme and if
they would like to contribute to it. As well as the stories, we are
looking for people to interview about their experiences and remembrances
of motoring.

The programme will be part of a series of Motoring films for BBC4. Our
particular programme tells the story of how motoring has changed not
only the type of car, but the way the landscape has changed for cars.
For example, after the First World War cars were for the upper classes
and they managed to make their getaway away from the city, to more
people owning cars post WW2 and congestion beginning to build up to the
first motorways to the big brash cars of the 70's to gridlock today -
the opposite of what the notion of cars were for, many years ago.

If you would like to have a chat about this, please don't hesitate to
contact me on the number below.

I look forward to hearing from you

Kind regards

Paola

Latest request, a 50s van in the North East:

----------------------

Dear Sir,
I would like to hire a 1950's style van and driver for a days filming on a short film, perhaps a morris J or E83w brightly coloured (red, blue, yellow or green).
The project is a pilot for a larger film we plan to shoot in 2009. We can offer upto 200 per day. Will be filming in Tynemouth, Newcastle and/or south shields. Would any of your members be interested?
thanks

Will Howe

And another, this time for people with Ford memories to help with a BBC4 documentary:

-----------------

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am researching a documentary for BBC4 about Ford cars. Although the
programme will mainly revolve around the plant in Essex, we also want to
hear from people who are Ford fans, and motorsports enthusiasts.

I wonder whether there might be an opportunity to put something up on
your website or whether you have any newsletters or anything similarly
that you could distribute to members of your website.

Incase this is a possibility I have pasted a copy of the appeal onto the
bottom of this email.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon,

Emily

FROM Z CARS TO LIFE ON MARS -
HOW DID FORD CHANGE YOUR LIFE?

Did you used to work at Dagenham, or do you still?

Do you remember your first Ford?

Did you dream of driving like the Professionals or the Sweeney?

Were family holidays spent navigating the countryside in a Ford Cortina?

Testimony Films (makers of Veterans - BBC1, Ground Zero - Channel 4,
Britain's Love Story - ITV1) is making a documentary for BBC celebrating
the cult classic British Ford cars made at Dagenham. From the Anglia and
the Capri to the Zodiac and the Zephyr, Ford brought the American Dream
to the UK, changing the way we drove.

We would love to hear how your Ford car changed your life; perhaps you
have memories of incredible journeys, perhaps you have an unusual car or
maybe you found romance on the road. If you, your partner or your family
owned a Ford car or worked at Dagenham in the 50s 60s 70s or 80s and
have interesting stories to tell, photographs or home movies of you and
your car during these decades, then please contact: Emily Sivyer on 0117

Latest opportunity to get your car on screen - this time in West Yorkshire, a 3 part drama set in 1973, 1980 and 1983. More details:

---------------

"We start filming in about 10 days time. We require an assortment of vehicles for background dressing. We are trying to get away from the "Life on Mars" situation where it was the same couple of cars in the background in every scene, in every episode. I particularly would like to find the following:-

As many MK 1 Transits as possible,
HC Viva 4 door, late model with twin headlights, preferably in Gold,
Triumph 2000/2500 estate, any colour except red or white.
Any period police cars, or cars which could be dressed as police cars.

We are always looking for vehicles of any era to bolster our database. Any
help is greatly appreciated.

Phil Hamilton,
