Hello, new to forum and to really old cars! I have just retrieved a Wolseley Nine from a garage where it has been stored since 1977. It is very sound but tatty! I have some questions about the brakes and will post that in the appropriate forum, but as I can find very little about this car, if anyone knows anything, such as common parts to other cars, type of engine - well anything really. The work of cleaning and assessing starts today - wish me luck !

Hi! welcome to the forum, your Wolseley looks like a great find - a proper 'barn find' Smile

Look forward to reading more about it!

It looks very sound in the photos, what condition is the interior etc in??

That's a dream find, Tim!

Just look at the detailing.

What are your plans? Full restoration or a 'patinated' rolling resto?

Welcome.

It looks amazing for being stuck in a garage for 30 years

thankyou all
The intention is a rolling and sympathetic restoration, leaving most of the patina of age (if I wanted a new car...etc) The interior is complete and undamaged with just one rip to the drivers seat. The leather is so dry and cracked I am not sure how it will turn out - but I'm going to try woolies and see.

Hi
I haven't tried this on Car seats but it is certainly very effective on shoes and other leather goods.

Hi Tim,

Welcome to the forum. Your plan to retain originality and patina is excellent.
Don't worry about the dry leather. This will become supple again after a few applications of some good leather treatment. I've had good results with Hide Food.

I looked at your brake cylinder question but my books only go back to the Wasp and Hornet. They seem to share brake parts with the Morris 12 and 14 models but I'm not sure that that applies to the Nine too. Probably best to contact one of the Wolseley clubs.

Looking forward to reports of your restoration though.

Peter

Hi Tim

Congratulations on the Wolseley Nine barn find. It does indeed look good considering that it has been stored for over 30 years.

Not sure about the brake problem you have but as they say "I know a man who does...".

Obviously I can not give out personal details on an online forum with out first contacting him. However he is the mark specialist for this series of Wolseley.

If you contact www.wolseleyworld.com or better still join the Wolseley Register then you will find a wealth of information, advice, help and spare parts available.

I have a 1936 Wolseley Wasp which was based on the Nine, but it requires a lot more work to return to the road than yours looks like it needs.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your Wolseley. I may even see you at one of the regular events organised by the Register.

Nishka

Thanks,
I have just popped my wolseley register application in the post!
As an aside, a quick change of oil, some petrol and a new battery - and the wolseley started on the 3rd turn of the starter motor - amazing.
I bet if I put my Ford mondeo in a garage for 30 years it would not start(probably be just a rust stain on the floor!)
