Can anyone recommend a fluid to top up the lever arm shocks on my '57 Zephyr?

Thanks
David

Motorcycle fork fluid from any motorcycle shop but Castrol & Comma do one I think - you can also use SAE10 or 15 or 20 straight engine oil or even ATF

I've always used hydaulic jack oil on the rover, but no doubt there are lots of reasons why I shouldn't.

What about a Dexron 3 ATF or Millers shock oil. Any good?

Thanks
David

Absolutely see my first post - I would prefer a none Dexron though but it depends how worn the shockers are

Well now!

I believe that the seals in most dampers are adversely affected by mineral oils (engine oils etc.) and hydraulic oils should always be used in such items for safety. The use of engine oils is an absolute no no (except on some Citroens).
Obviously oil produced by the damper manufacturer is preferable, but jack oil or hydraulic oil should be fine, though the viscosity may not be as the manufacturer intended.
