Garry sent these photos over, he hopes to restore it but for the timebeing, would just be satisfied to know exactly what it is??? it looks like it has had work done in the past ...? I'm sure I've seen these pics before somewhere

Could it be a Lanchester or a Daimler ?

Something about the rear side window.

I think there was a very weird engine and epicyclic gearbox involved with some of these, may explain why the engine is missing.

I think Lanchesters and Daimlers of that period had a very distinctive horizontal area running from the windscreen on each side of the bonnet and
the rear doors open the wrong way for a Lanchester.

Peter

Standards did use the same door opening pattern but the bonnet line of the mystery car looks more elegant than Standard's. Coach line and window treatment look similar though.

It might help if we could get a dashboard view.

Are you thinking about the sleeve valve Engine and pre-selector gearbox Peter?

Rick - like you I think I have seen this pics before.

I think the story was that it had been abandoned in the communal parking area of some flats and no one knew who owned it.

I can't remember where it was but if I get some time I'll try to find it.

Hi Beetle fan.

What I remember from back in the 60's, a friend of the family had a Lanchester and I remember the wierd looking engine. Well weird to me a a teenager and having seen mainly OHV's and S.V's

I remember my father saying that the gearbox was a very smooth change.
