brought the morris out of winter storage on Saturday, she started first time and was idling well, however when giving it any acceleration or even just trying to rev then she would struggle and almost cut out. however if you held your foot down then it would slowly build back up. it continued to do this even when fully up to temperature. would back fire quite a bit when driving.

plugs are clean and gapped, so are points, and car was running perfect before hibernation. only been stood since late November but started about once a month or so.

any ideas? fuel issue? i put a fresh 'tenner' worth in today and that hasn't made any difference.

Mid,

I assume it has an SU carb. The piston is probably stuck in the chamber.

I had similar symptoms on my Austin Sixteen 1931 and it turned out to be the nuts (brass) holding the inlet manifold had stripped and allowed the gasket to leak. This caused further problems because the leak caused the mixture to run hot which caused the cylinder head gasket to burn out.
