Good work Richard. Should be great once you're finished. Lovely little car.

Thanks Fraser Smile

Got the repair section welded in today. It needed a little tweaking, but went straight in and I then bolted it up with the original Longbridge nut and bolt, which came straight off for the first time since 1958!

I then ground it down and got it pretty smooth. It did need plenty of filler around the top line of weld to get the contour right - I must have spent two hours applying filler, rubbing it down, grinding high spots, applying more filler and so on.

First application of primer

Second -

Line with sill

Underneath

The front and rear wings are now ready for top coat, so that should go on over the weekend if all goes to plan.

Bet you're pleased with things so far: I would be.

Good luck with the top coat: hope it's drier there than here ATM.

'Fraid not, it's been raining all day here. Luckily the A35 is inside in the dry, so it is possible to get work done in this weather.

That is lucky; unlike poor Torsten: just read the post about his stolen A35!

Yeah I know, hopefully it will turn up Sad

Today's update

Finished off the coats of paint on the front and rear wings, I think about four coats of topcoat went on today. I got the paint from Canvey Auto Refinishing Services (01268 510335) and it is an excellent match. I rubbed down between coats with 1200 grit and it does look pretty good I think, not concours but I'm quite happy.

Note the new wing mirrors, it only came with one and the stem was badly pitted.

I plan to drive it to work tomorrow - there's only so long I can be without an A30/35! Cool

Looking good Richard!

Is that rattle cans or cellulose you put in a gun?

Cellulose - sprayed using a £60 compressor and cheap spraygun setup from Lidl!

My dad did the spraying, I did the preparation...

Interesting; thanks.

C.A.R.S. will be able to match some for you. When I went to get the black for this (matched from the ashtray) I took the filler cap off the Landcrab and had some Limeflower mixed up as well as some white for the FB Victor. All three colours were ready for collection that afternoon. Great service.

Their branch at Dagenham is probably the closest to you.

Thanks!

Any sign of those door seals...? My front ones are a bit worn on the red fabric, and they're letting the interior down a bit sadly!

£22.95 per litre + VAT I think they charged. Not cheap, but I got a discount for cash!
