My original zephyr manual recommends rain water over tap water when filling the cooling system.

Does that recommendation stand good today as I have a full water butt from my Asbestos garage roof? I guess I'd have to strain it somehow.

My tap water is quite hard.

I understand about the different types of antifreeze for older cars from my earlier post.

Thanks
David

Yes I am an rainwater advocate using my stored water from our waterbutt. I use something like 30% blue antifreeze solution. Use an fine strainer and it will be the best thing you can do.

Use of tap water in an hard water area is an no no.
