See Homepage. This page: A garage building found in Staffordshire and built in the 1930s/40s, preserved in very good order.

A period garage found in Cheadle.

I photographed this old garage in 2006 while en route to a ride on a steam locomotive nearby. Named Central Garage, it looks to be in very good order and an example of the style of garage that would have been seen in most towns, large and small, until quite recent times. The frontage is split into two sections, a small showroom area to the right, with folding wooden doors to the left. On the far left is a raised section that probably supported a single petrol pump in days gone by. Two signs sit there now, one for self-drive van hire, the other advertising used car sales. Whether repair work still takes place at this Staffs garage I'm not sure.
Central Garage in Cheadle, Staffs
A look in the RAC Handbook of 1953 mentions a Central Garage on Tape Street in the town, operated by a Mr. A. F. Child, and is listed as a sales agency.
