Somersets never really set the world on fire but provided a sturdy and dependable set of wheels to the 50s motorist. Those wanting to cut a bit of a dash could opt for the drophead coupe version. These A40s were fairly unusual even in the 50s and today are very thin on the ground. Power comes from a 1200cc BMC engine with a column gearchange. Alongside is a Sports model.
