Audlem Festival of Transport.
The summer months see various transport festivals taking place around the area, some quite large like this one, others smaller. The Audlem Festival of Transport seems to have grown year-on-year since we first attended in 2005 (images can be found of our first visit on the Audlem Transport Festival 2005 photos page). This year we took our 1934 Morris Minor, in previous years we've attended in a Standard Ten and later a Ten Companion, an Austin Devon, and an A55 Cambridge.

This year the weather was very kind, and no doubt helped to encourage the impressive turnout of vehicles which descended upon the green in Hankelow, the starting point for the day's short road run into the neighbouring village of Audlem.

Classic and vintage cars began to arrive in Hankelow at approximately 10am, with the field gradually filling up as more and more venerable old vehicles arrived to take up their start positions. Vehicles are grouped by age, with the oldest cars leaving on the run first, leaving the moderns (ie 1980s cars) and the commercials, to complete the convoy.

The turnout of both entrants and spectating public seemed higher than in previous years to us. At 12.30pm the leisurely run into Audlem commenced. A six-cylinder Austin from 1936 followed us in the convoy, while we pootled along behind an Austin 7 Ruby, a 10/4 Lichfield, and a chrome-rad 10/4 saloon. Waiting at the destination was a selection of classic motorcycles - they don't take part in the road run down from Hankelow for some reason, instead making their way independently to the finishers' area. All in all a grand day out. Shown below are fifty-five images from this enjoyable day's outing, the majority of which were taken at Hankelow as cars arrived for the show prior to the run.
