Cholmondeley Classic Car & Motorcycle Show.
This biannual car and motorcycle show is one we regularly attend, and over the years I've taken a '30s Morris, a Standard Companion, a black A40 Devon, a 122S Volvo, a 1959 Austin Cambridge and probably one or two others. The Morris has been our "mount" for the last couple of seasons and, once cleaned and prepared for the run out, it would be for the September 2012 show. We ambled over to Cholmondeley on Sunday morning and met up with friends who were also displaying there. Dad brought along his faithful Vanden Plas 1300 (see photograph number one), and a fine day was had. The promising weather forecast I'm sure helped to swell the numbers somewhat, after what has been a disastrous season for many event organisers and show-goers, where rain has rendered many showgrounds unusable.

Here are 85 photographs from this enjoyable day out, concentrating on the older cars. As with previous shows at the castle, there were quite a few moderns on display - why anyone would want to stop and look at recent cars built up to 2005 (one of the categories invited into the arena area) at a "Classic Car & Motorcycle Show" is beyond me. Still, there were plenty of older cars to distract from the "Tesco car park on a Saturday morning" sections, although pre-war cars seem to be a little thin on the ground.

Two of my favourite cars this year were a fabulous two-tone Vauxhall Cresta PA, and a marvellous Jaguar 3.4 (Mk1) mildly uprated with 3.8 power and some other minor yet tasteful revisions. The Jaguar was the one I'd like to have taken home, with the Bristol a close second.
