Ford Fairlane 500.
The snapshot shown below dates to May 1965 and was taken at Port Everglades, in Florida, which - despite its name - isn't actually part of the Florida Everglades themselves, but is some 23 miles north of Miami. A large green vessel is shown moored up, with two taxi cabs parked on the quayside. The nearest car is a 1960 Ford Fairlane 500 four-door sedan, complete with a taxi sign on its roof. The extra badging on the front wing, and the chrome-plated additions to the rear wing, signify the 500 version. The Fairlane has also been fitted with spats over the rear wheels. A truck trailer belonging to the National Produce Co. of Miami is parked close to the ship.

The third-generation Fairlane was produced in 1960 and 1961 only, with the range comprising the standard Fairlane, the Fairlane 500, and at the top of Ford tree, the Galaxie. Sedan, coupe and wagon versions of the Fairlane were offered, with many Fairlanes finding themselves in use with fleet buyers, such as the Police and also taxi cab operators. Buyers could choose the Fairlane six-cylinder Sedan or Business Coupe, the Fairlane V8 Sedan or Business Coupe, and Fairlane 500 versions of the six- and V8-engined Sedans also.
