Hi all,

My Zephyr has always had some minor defects / corrosion since I've owned iit but it hasn't got any worse so I've been putting off a full respary (it was last done with 2 pack in the 80s).

However, this winter the garage roof sprung a leak and got very damp and despite my attempts to keep the car dry, the paint has blistered on the bonnet and roof.

So I've decided to enjoy the car this spring and summer and then plan a strip and respray for the winter. It's very solid underneath and has a great interior, so it's really only the exterior needs doing. The things that do need attention are corner of the door skins and some corrosion under the belt line and where the badges attach. Also possible rear arch lips (placement quarter panels are available) Apart from that, it will be whatever appears when it's stipped.

Anyway, I'd apprecaite advice on what I should tackle myself and what I should leave to a pro? I could certainly stip all chrome, door rubbers and glass etc. I have basic welding skills having completed a 12 week course over the winter. I've been told the door corrosion could be cut out and a small patch added rather than a whole skin but I'm nervous I'd generate too much heat and buckle the whole panel.

Fianlly, does anyone have a recommendation for a good classic car body / paint shop in my area? (West London, Bucks, Berks, Herts border).

Several people have recommended a good body guy in Iver Bucks in the past but I can't remember his name.

Cheers
David
