Is anyone displaying at this event.?
A new event held in conjunction with Practical Classics Magazine.

A really good event for the first attempt.
I shall be exhibiting again next year if it goes ahead.
A lot of barn found and unrestored cars which I liked.
We see enough of the shiny ones at shows, its nice to see a bit of patina.

We went on Saturday and even at my slow pace of walking we saw it all in two hours. Silverstone Auctions and Heritage Insurance had large collections of 'barn finds' which took up about a third of the total area and there was plenty of empty spaces too. The usual book, model, tools and parts sellers were there in force and various TV celebrities were moving between the live stages promoting their latest series. Funnily enough, though lots of clubs had restoration work going on, most of the people I saw taking photos were snapping away at the 'after' cars.
Here's a tip - park at the railway station for a fiver. The walkway goes directly to halls 1 and 2 where the show was. _________________ David

Interesting, I must admit I did think it was going to be quite small. There seems to be quite a few people wanting to emulate the NEC classic show (I'm thinking of this one, the Coventry one, the one at the Trafford Centre), and it takes time to build up to something like the NEC show. Hopefully they'll keep going with it and get the critical mass, though. But it's not going to happen overnight.
We do keep thinking about parking elsewhere, though we also try to fill a car so as to share the cost out a bit. If you've got 4 people in a car, you're only saving just over a quid each. |

I decided to take along an exhibit this time, it makes you part of the show rather than just a spectator walking around.
You have to be a bit savvy at any event, there are always jobs worth people telling you what to do.
On the Saturday morning I arrived with the car on a trailer, the security chap told me to unload at hall 2 and then park my van and trailer about half a mile away in a car park.
Once outside hall no 2 we found an empty loading bay so left the van and trailer there.
We folded our vehicle pass to hide our mobile phone number, then nobody could call me to move my van.
Saturday teatime we just walked out of the loading bay door into our van....job done.
There is always a way around things.
We had the world and his missus on our stand all weekend, if you enjoy conversing with people and having a laugh rather than being an anorak bore this is a fantastic day out, we met some really good contacts and interesting people.
I could have sold our exhibit 100 times , there is a market out there for rare cars.
