The green mini is back into hibernation for now!!
Last friday polished and waxed the whole body and then put it back in its place and put the covers back on!!
Hoping for some nice weather now to take it out for a run!! |

Been a long time from the last update on this thread.
I have taken the green mini out 2 or 3 times but the horn is not working properly on and off.
I have been using the surf blue mini for work occasionally too.
In the meantime also had our second daughter who is now a couple of months old so the cars are not getting much use for the time being!!
Crappy weather on sundays is not helping much either!! |

The blue mini got pressed into daily service as I had an accident in my modernish daily unfortunately and its sitting in the garage waiting to be repaired!!
Have been using the hunter as well for taking the family on board since its quite difficult to fit wife, daughter, baby in carry cot and pushchair in a mini!!!
Its nice to use them a bit but I am constantly fretting something might happen to the cars when left parked unattended!! |

Hi Jens, bought all the parts needed. I bought them used from breakers and the same colour as my car but will still need to respray since all 3 panels have some sort of minor damages to them, but paint will have to wait for now. I just want it mobile again.
I will be repairing it together with a relative of my wife who is a panel beater/welder by trade and has his own fully equipped garage.
I might even try painting it myself, I had just sprayed part of the bumper cause the lacquer was peeling off and blended it in to the rest and although not perfect, it looked good at first glance!!
Will see how much I get quoted for the paint and then check the cost of the paint if I was to do it myself!
Biggest problem is that the basecoat is water based, but I can heat up the garage with a couple of gas heaters I've got and insulate the roof and walls with cheap throw away plastic!
But I have to add up all these costs before committing myself cause if the difference is marginal, I can save a lot of hassle to myself and hand the car over to a pro! |

Yesterday it was cloudy but not rainy, forecasts said chance of rain 25 percent so I decided I'd be taking out both my minis for a run to Wied iz-Zurrieq, were some petrol heads do meet up on sundays. I took the blue mini first but there were only a bunch of newer cars mainly sports cars which are not of any interest to me so I just drove back in it, but then decided on taking the green mini out to the same place for a quick drive. However on the way back it started raining, so I had to clean the mini prior to putting it back in its corner and sheeting it over.
All in all a couple of nice drives though!!
Wish I could use them more!!!
Met other classics being taken out for a spin as well, Ford Prefect, Ford escort mark 1 van, another mini, lambretta and an escort mark 1 2 doors. |

Oh I forgot to write down some of the work done during the summer months!!
My green mini's horn had been playing up, checked both horn and push and although the push was changed to a better one I had, it still did not cure the problem, so time to check out with a local auto electrician friend of mine. A relay was added to boost it and it did the trick and is now terrifying other road users!! Its that loud!!!
The blue mini's interior light was also playing up, easy fix though, the connectors that hold the bulb had got a bit loose and by just bending them a bit back in place it cured the problem, however it would light up when the passenger door was opened but nothing when I opened my door so I took out the door switch and found out the earth was the problem so just cleaned the lot and replaced the earth wire and it was back to normal.
I had some work carried out on the hunter too but that has its own thread!! |

So the green mini is due for VRT (MOT) in february and since over here it can be carried out as long as 90 days preceding road tax renewal, I took it whilst the weather was still nice!
It passed first time with lots of compliments from all the staff and the owner of the garage as well, who likes classics too, having a nice original corsair in his workshop and a late 70s merc 123 in nice condition too though covered in dust and the poor thing has been standing there for years! |

Hi Jens
I was there in the green mini and left at around 11.15 to go home for lunch!
Did not take the camera with me so I have no pics of the cars parked there! |
