I wondered where she was when I was in Whitby on Boxing Day. There was a 30's petrol job doing the run instead |

Why are they selling it? Looking at their website you would think it's still operating! |

Reading the press reports it seems that there are several reasons, which if knitted together and then subdivided might include the 100% real truth.
Like so many things in life, once the word" council" enters the debate then it is open season on the facts.
Regardless, the steam bus is not an ancient feature of Whitby, and was introduced as a private commercial venture. |

I Am friends With Viv and Vern who own the Sentinel, and have been on the Bus, actually had a little drive of her, and spent some time firing too, all good fun
Superb engine, and the only commercially run steam road engine run for some time.
The reasons for giving up, I will not go into, but it is certainly not their fault, and is a great loss to Whitby, the council simply are unable to see simple things! Very sad!
The Charabanc they own too, is nice! |
