Well we have had Renault cars in the family for about 40 years.. I now work in a Renault dealership.. I have a Renault 15GTL and Fuego GTX,,.
We have had nearly all the Renault numbered cars at some point but the one we never had was the 16 and I first sat in to one about 2 years ago and was hooked ..I have been looking out for a RHD car ever since..I missed a good one last year, and as usual there are a few dogs around but i dont want a big resto.job.

I worked on my mates Renault in the 80's it was a few years old then, the thing that sticks in my mind was that the engine seemed to have been put in backwards, so over the top of the engine was the gear change linkage! do you know which model this would have been?
I do admire the innovation of French engineering, they have often been way ahead in many area of motor engineering, very creative people, just didn't seem to allways get it right in production!

Hi
I think the Renault 4 was like that, the gear lever stuck out from the top/centre of the dash.
If the gear box was infront of the engine it would have kept the majority of the weight inside the wheel base. |
